5 Toddler Friendly Home Decor Ideas

I am so tickled to have my good friend Jenny as a guest here today! In a former life she was the social worker to my RN on a hospice team in Portland – once upon a time when we were working full time, before we both became mothers! Now she channels her creativity into helping her husband with his remodeling business, antiquing and thrifting to find decor pieces that pop, and creating cozy and functional spaces in their own home for her 3 year old and 1 year old. She documents these adventures @roguewifedesign. Take it away Jenny! -Bethany

Cozy Corner

I believe that kids need a soft place to land. This cozy little corner is filled with soft throw pillows, bean bag chairs, and baskets full of entertainment. A lantern and candles with LED lighting add a feeling of warmth to the space while serving as a safe alternative to lamp lighting. These beanbag chairs serve as a great place to store extra blankets and pillows and can be stuffed to the brim with soft items for extra seating.

Little Reading Nook

These two tiny recliners are both functional and aesthetically pleasing. A little space that will encourage children’s exploration of books and reading. Adding a soft pillow and throw blanket into the mix along with a lantern for lighting makes you feel right at home.

Kid Friendly Coffee Table

With babies learning to crawl and toddlers on the run a traditional solid coffee tables can prove to be an accident waiting to happen. Substitute a solid surface coffee table with a soft ottoman that will be a safe space for crash landings. You can set trays for placing items as needed and your kids will love jumping and lounging in this comfy spot.

Chalkboard Table

A dining table doesn’t have to be just an area for eating. Paint an entire table surface or just one leaf with chalkboard paint and create a space your kids will love. This is a great central area that will allow a creative outlet through chalkboard writing and coloring. It is also pleasing to the eye and will add a bit of character to an already beautiful setting.

Magnet Table

Paint the top of a toddler table with magnetic paint and you will have an area the kids will enjoy for days to come. Encouraging tactile activities through magnet play will not only be fun, but a learning experience as well. Add magnet holders for storage and an LED lantern for safe lighting.
